A Window Through Which We See Our Humanity

I read about these robot quilts done by an artist in Illinois and I had to visit the link to her site. These are awesome. They aren't "bed" quilts, but wall art and they're really neat. I know that a subject like robots seems sort of lame sounding, or maybe something that only a kid would find interesting (or an uber geek), but I find these to be very powerful. Maybe because I feel, like the artist wrote, that we already live in an age where AI is something to be contended with, and robots, such as they are, can act as a window through which we can contemplate and understand our own humanity.

Check out Kathy Weaver's fiber and mixed media robot quilts and be inspired!
