Going Green(s)

One of the highlights of our extended trip up to the great wet (and white) north this year was one tremendous meal at Greens in San Francisco. Mom and Tim treated Paige and me to one of the true highlight meals of 2007, only days before 2008 made an appearance.

Greens has been around since 1979, and was the very first high-profile vegetarian restaurant in the U.S. Its fresh fare is primarily provided by Green Gulch Farm in the Marin Headlands. Its longstanding association with the San Francisco Zen Center, and with local farmers and independent organic producers of fine and heirloom vegetables, dairy products and wine, is renouned on a scale that mirrors Alice Waters' Chez Panisse.

This pic of mom and Piage was before the meal. I can assure you that the smiles were even bigger afterwards, and the tummies were more full. The next time Nate and Sara visit the Bay Area, they will be astounded by the tremendously flavorful fare, and the wonderful ambience of the Fort Mason Center, situated in the Marina.
